A heads up, tickets not yet on sale

Spyboy promotion at Hailsham Pavilion - Saturday 03 February 2018   7.30pm

Dave Swarbrick (or Swarb as he was known to so many) very sadly passed away in 2016.

He left clear instructions that there was not to be a funeral....so there wasn’t. However, before he died, he did talk about one last bash with all his friends making great music and having lots of fun.

He may not have wanted a funeral but he didn’t say anything about a Wake!....so, we are giving him and his friends that party and a chance to share many very happy memories of the great man.

Already confirmed at the Pavilion to pay tribute to Swarb’s matchless career is Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Simon Swarbrick (Swarb’s maestro fiddling nephew and protégé), plus the sensational “folk/reggae” Jason Wilson Band from Canada, who will hopefully have within their ranks the legendary saxophonist, Pee Wee Ellis who spent all those years with James Brown before joining up with Van Morrison.

And there is plenty of time between now and February for other old pals to come on board!!!!!

Why?

He was living in Wales towards the end.

I suspect 'Mr Spyboy' offered to organise & host.

I suspect this would require you to approach them.

I could be wrong.

I wish it great success...But an absolute pig to get to from 90% of the land mass of the UK and with no obvious connection to the celebrant does slightly leave me scratching my head.

Celebrator?/celebrated?

Surely, celebrant is the person doing the celebrating?

Swarbdud play that venue/venues reasonably regularly

Yes,

I'd have thought a venue near Brum/Coventry would have been more appropriate given Swarb's links to those cities.  Like David, I hope it'll be a great success, but I was rather hoping for something with a slightly higher profile - no disrespect to Spyboy, btw...
