Sandy Denny : Like and Old Fashioned Waltz (Clear vinyl, UMC).
This on Record Store Day, April this year. A must have for me as it's the only Sandy album I don't have on LP. Other notable vinyl reissues include: Anne Briggs, 3 Bert Jansch Conundrum albums and June Tabor: Ashore.

That blurb on the website is almost hilarious, quite apart from being wrong about Matt Molloy terminating Paul Brady. Was it translated on Google from the original Bremenese? And Mr Molloy joined planxty from the Bothy Band not the "Chieftaines" |

In May ; A reissue of Cockney Rebel : Human Menagerie. One I let go by at the time and thereafter. Looks like a good job, from original 1/4 inch tapes.

I finally purchased and listened to the Who at the Fillmore East 1968 double CD. I am pleased to report that my previous impression was incorrect - both "Relax" and "A Quick One" are presented in complete form (at least I can't detect any edits). Furthermore, the sound quality is as good as anything of that vintage could possibly be. If Keith were here, he would no doubt complain about his drums not being properly miked, but that was true of every live Who recording I've heard before the Tommy era. "My Generation" is interesting, but incredibly sloppy. Keith seems to be struggling with changing tempos and, frankly, finding something interesting to play while Pete experiments on top of everything. This is a proto-jam, something they did much better from Tommy-onward. I'm not sure I'll listen to MG again, but Disc 1 is worth the price of admission. |

I got an alert for this and pre-ordered. I think the price will come down between now and the release date but 7a are a very small label specialising in releases by the individual members of the Monkees, beautifully packaged, for which there is a limited market. They do it for the love of it and do not, I think, make much of a profit so I am prepared to pay a little more for their releases. It seems increasingly that the cost of small run CDs is going up. One veteran independent artist that I recently went to see sells his CDs online for £20 each and they were the same price at his concert because that is what he needs to charge to break even on them. To compensate, he also sells his albums on a USB stick at a considerably lower price. |

I have, thanks Paul. I don't know how bothered I am about a live album, to be honest. I nearly blew my top though when I saw that the recent reissues of Nez's first 6 albums all have tempting bonus tracks. The downside is that thus far they are download-only. I bought one track, a 1971 remake of Circle Sky with the Second National Band, while I wait and see what gives in terms of a possible physical release for these reissues. Jules |

I have, thanks Paul. I don't know how bothered I am about a live album, to be honest. Jules The way I see it is, there is unlikely to ever be much in the way of new music from Nez, so I'll take what I can get. These shows were supposed to be great too. I wish they would come here. There has or is about to be a vinyl release for the Nez reissues but presumably without the bonus tracks. |
