600?  Tiny?  My Sue went to a sold out John Bramwell gig on Sat - 50 tickets Wink Grin

I saw Bridget St John at the Old Cinema Laundrette a few years ago  - capacity 35-40.  I think it was about half full.

Really?  That's shocking...Poor Bridget...  Then again, I did once see Loudon Wainwright in the Guildford Civic Hall ('83, capacity 1700) with an attendance of well under 50.

I'll not embarrass anyone but, about 5 years ago I went to a gig where there was me, the sound guy and a very confused looking girl behind the bar.
I was asked to clap as loud as I could.

I saw Smokie play in an Arena (Prob could have held 4000 people) in Coventry... maybe late 1990s or early 2000s.
It was virtually empty. Even worse, the venue was also an ice rink so our chairs were on fake floor that covered the ice. It was freezing.

Smokie played brilliantly, though. (I believe they have no entered the realms of 'no original members' left in the line-up these days.)

Next time, a few years later, it was in Bedworth Civic Hall which was full. (Prob a few hundred people)

Smokie. On ice. On ice? Why the f*** play on ice? Surely they could have played next door...  Wink

I recall seeing Rod Clements of Lindisfarne do a solo gig at a club in Cardiff a few years ago. There were about 12 people there, including Rod! He gave his all, though.

I saw FISH on Saturday night in Wolverhampton on his farewell tour.

It was absolutely brilliant.

Venue (Wulfrun Hall) is awful, though. So packed some people were actually outside the doors to the hall watching it.
And they also steal 15% of merch taking, so I bought all mine online before the gig (And Fish had a pop up in a local pub as well.)

Seth Lakeman and band at the Taliesin in Swansea last night, his only Welsh gig on this tour.

An absolutely stonking evening, with a mix of old and new.

Seth Lakeman (violin, vocals, bouzouki, tenor guitar, viola, banjo) was lively and inventive, especially with his solo violin number that finished the first half.

Benji Kirkpatrick (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, bouzouki, mandolin and harmonica), demonstrating his versatility by changing instrument every tune!

Ben Nicholls (double bass, banjo, jaw harp and electric bass), was excellent.

Cormac Byrne (percussion and bodhrán), brilliant as always.

Alex Hart (vocals, harmonium, electric guitar, acoustic guitar). Alex announced she was 19 weeks pregnant on FB shortly before the gig! Her vocal dexterity is extraordinary.

Archie Churchill-Moss on accordion, new to the band but an old hand, was very good, but way back onstage for most of the time.

As a hearing-aid wearer I was very grateful for the telecoil technology employed by the Talisien, providing clear sound at a reasonable volume.

Oh, I notice Seth is playing in Coventry this week.
Will  probably go along if tickets are available.

Isn't Boo Hewerdine just great?  Wink
Saw him last night with Brooks Williams. (State of the Union) or Taste of the Onion as Boo joked! A great evening. Brilliant musicians with humour. Very rare I buy a cd these days but worth a tenner.
They're on a mini tour.

I went, and I had an absolutely amazing time! What a band!

Even better I work on the Uni campus so just walked over from the office, had some food and watched the gig!

How can they not be over their firelimit capacity?  I'd be making a lot of noise about that - gigs are getting dangerous these days.  The Albert Hall in Manchester feels unsafely full at gigs I've been to in recent years...

Warwick Uni Arts centre is a great venue, even better now they've revamped it. I've seen all sorts here: Steeleye Span, John McLaughlin & Shakti, Richard Thompson, Kirsty MacColl, All About Eve, 10cc, Levellers, John Martyn, Public Service Broadcasting, Steven Wilson, Oysterband (Solo and doing a 'big session'), John Carpenter, Medieval Baebes...

I work on the science park, which is part of the campus, but I don't work for the Uni. (Warwick doesn't seem short of cash, currently doing a massive building development, unlike the other uni in the city which is broke and making redundancies!) I also live in walking distance as well.

Peggy still on good form last night in the more relaxed company of AJ Clarke , following what must be becoming a gruelling winter tour with Fairport ("We got Mondays off " "What for shopping?") Plenty of audience participation , and the show ran well over with the audience happy to stay in their seats. A cover of a Ralph song aside , all sounded like originals to me , I'd done no research , nothing particularly thrilled me but then I was primarily  there for the bass man who still wields a mighty mandolin outside of Fairport

Soft Machine at Band on the Wall last night,  on the first night of their short UK tour. They played a few new tracks which they are planning to record in April. The rest were split roughly equally between more recent albums and 60s/70s tracks. Theo Travis was on particularly good form.

Surprisingly not. I thought they'd end with Hazard profile, but it was another new one (I assume, as neither me nor my friend knew it).

Lovely show at Birmingham Town Hall on Monday. Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis and Mary Chapin Carpenter promoting their collaboration album. Fantastic vocal harmonies, and a very sympathetic band, all very gentle, which combined with the warmth of the room caused a few people to nod off  Wink
