I think the Al Stewart and Steeleye box sets are ahead at the moment
What Steeleye box set? And ahead of what? Oh, by the way, I have ordered the Horslips set too. You've answered the question! That one doesn't interest me I'm afraid. I am the opposite way roiund. I have tried with Steeleye, I really have. I love Hark but after that they just don't do it for me. The absence of drums on some of the records is part of the problem I think. I haven't heard their more recent stuff.

I must admit that my interest in Steeleye had waned over the last 30 years or so (I've always loved Hark though) but the addition of a second lead guitarist over the last few years has given them a lot of extra bite and the live stuff has been particularly fab. Another band could take note!!

Er...no they haven't. They didn't have a permanent one until well into '73.

I have listened to those albums and they just didn't grab me. I never got beyond them.

Although I saw them livev just a couple of years ago and they were very good.

Yep, this. To the Nth degree... And to add to it all, I've really gone off Maddy's voice recently. It started with the 2012 Sandy tour which I didn't think put her in a good light at all (I realise many others disagree). But I still adore the first few years I could well be tempted.

I wonder what source they are using for this 'remastered CD'?

8 CD? I like them (I'm a particular fan of Matthew) but that's almost certainly too much of a good thing for me...

I see that Thompy’s “Guitar, Vocal” is due out this week. Probably won’t replace my Hannibal version, but there’s some interesting stuff on there for the completists.

I flagged this reissue up a while ago. I also have the Hannibal edition. This one should be of interest to some Talkawhilers, at least.

It looks like the re-issue is vinyl-only. A CD would have been nice. Jules

Looks like the most “I know more about Seventies music than you do…” compilation ever.

Looks like the most “I know more about Seventies music than you do…” compilation ever. My thoughts exactly. It's his own personal playlist. As far as I can see it holds together on no reason other than DH likes what's on it. Doesn't compute for me.

For those of a certain persuasion, there's some interesting stuff here...and it includes their first physical release....a ltd (500) CD release of the Keith Tippett Group at the height of their powers in 1970. https://britishprogressivejazz.com/
