Leeds
He's there most Fridays and Saturdays.
I've had some bargains off him over the years.
A couple of months ago I got the latest Neil Young Archives cd set (Freedom,Ragged Glory,Weld and Arc)
Still sealed £15!!

I think this guy does Tod market on a Thursday as well.  Basically, a well known reviewer dumps all his stuff with the seller, and the seller clearly a) hasn't a clue or b) is a lovely generous guy...

Hmm. I suspect petrol costs (other forms of transport are available...) would wipe out any savings for me.

In the 1990s I used to pick up books at Spitalfields Market for dirt cheap prices, including a complete set of P.G. Wodehouse for a tenner.

Those books came from reviewers at a prominent newspaper. God knows what they reviewed because even the newest books were untouched. The stallholder paid them by weight.

Bargain of the century.  Amazon but not THAT much more elsewhere.  17 CDs, 1 DVD.  Some of the best bonkers music in the universe.  I thought it was a bargain at twice the price

Thanks for the tip-off.  It was still working that way on Friday.  Although after my first listen through, including 'Mother', I was wondering if I should really be thanking you!  How did that ever get through any quality control?!

Hmm, it's not great is it? I prefer the instrumental version later in the set.

Right, mega clearance in Cheltenham Oxfam shop - ALL CDs, DVDs, records and books for £1 each, until Friday/Saturday

Yesterday - Benji Kirkpatrick's "Hendrix Songs" CD (brand new, still sealed!), Paul Simon Anthology 2CD set, Divine Comedy best of 2CD set, 2 x Cauld Blast Orchestra CDs, and the Lick The Tins CD.

I spent some Xmas money from the in-laws today at the local Oxfam book & record shop. Two LPs and a book...

Richard & Linda's Sunnyvista for £10
Steeleye Span's All Around My Hat for £3
George Harrison book by Joshua M Greene titled Here Comes The Sun for £3.

They had Unhalfbricking on vinyl but at £40 I decided I could live without that.

Assuming it's a first pressing, and depending on condition, you might want to go back for that... https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/981957

Dont worry Oxfam hardly ever make mistakes on item values! They seldom make it to the shelves if they are worth anything major

For me, I've never known an organisation which so consistently prices everything at virtually top whack (i.e. what's the top price on Discogs or ABE?) but then make precisely no account of the condition of the item they're selling.  My local Oxfam (in Keswick) is full to the brim of items with very major price tags.  Some of them are even worth it, but most not.  But I do love getting a bargain from an Oxfam...a little bit of knowledge and once in a while you can still come out of there silently pumping one's fist in the air Wink

Almost exactly  what I've said on this subject  before. Oxfam etc don't seem to realise 'book price'  is for the item in mint condition.  Not a beat up old copy which is barely worth playing.

Well I'm pleased to say that both the LPs I bought yesterday at Oxfam are in good condition and well worth the money I paid.

Somewhat bizarrely they were selling bars of soap at the counter when I went to pay for the records and book. They have another shop up the road so maybe the staff there had over-ordered on the soap products.

Following on from the Police Synchronicity box download thing on Amazon, I discovered today that the same thing happens if you purchase the 2CD version of Dylan's Springtime In New York: Bootleg Series 16 - 1981-85, ie you end up with the download of the full 5CD version, which covers Shot of Love, Infidels and Empire Burlesque. It's mainly outtakes from those sessions, and some alternate takes and a few live versions.  I'm just starting to listen now, so can't comment on the quality, but other reviewers have said that the Empire Burlesque versions particularly benefit from being before Arthur Baker got his hands on them.

You do just have to be careful that you buy the version sold direct by Amazon, not the slightly cheaper one which says 'dispatches from Amazon' but is sold by someone else, otherwise you don't get the AutoRip download.
