The Icicle Works at Liverpool Academy on Saturday
The Waterboys at Liverpool Philharmonic on Monday

You could go and see The Rutles at the Cavern tonight.

https://www.cavernclub.com/events/event/the-rutles/

Then they play Preston tomorrow and Glasgow and Edinburgh on Saturday and Sunday.

Richard Thompson, Kerrville Folk Festival, Sunday night...

It's a 2-hour drive each way, with RT wrapping up probably after 10:00 p.m. Sunday.  Not as grueling as driving all the way home from Houston after Nick Mason, but still I'm not sure I can do this one, I'm sorry to say.  I won't decide for sure until the day.

I'm going to see The Rutles at the Platform in Morecambe tonight. I've not seen Neil Innes in many a year and it'll be my first Rutles gig. I was giving their LP a spin last night. Smiley

Merry Hell are playing the same venue on Friday. I might go along.

I've just bought a ticket to rut at the Robin next week. Wish I hadn't seen the later post for the t-shirt though, I covet, and I'm supposed to getting the money together for festival tix. I'm hoping to do Cornbury for the first time this year.

One of my favourite American acts tonight, the brilliant Willie Nile at the Musician, Leicester. One of only 5 UK dates, so looking like a sell out.

In which case you'll also see my mate Ali Wilson on drums.   Smiley

Me also.
He did say there might be more if the first ones sold well, so thanks to all those people who are now going to gigs miles away when he's now playing more local. This is Steve Hillage, so you will have amassed loads of Karma points for that.

The Monochrome Set at the Jericho Tavern Oxford, November 23rd...Have just played my vinyl copy of Strange Boutique from 1980, and amazed at how fresh and vital it still sounds...Quirky, eccentric, melodic, and completely original...Brilliant stuff !

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. Bristol for me! (Unless he plays Glos/Chelt)

Two for me in the next week.

Ian Prowse & Amsterdam at the 100 Club in London on Saturday. That's going to be a hot one by the look of it.  Undecided

Nick Lowe in Hove on Tuesday. My first time seeing Nick since 1984.

Just booked my next few gigs:

June 17 - Jon Boden (solo) at Nettlebed (John Spiers will apparently be doing a support set, so hoping for some duo stuff too!)

June 29 - The Copper Family at Cecil Sharp House.  Never been there before, or heard the Coppers, other than recorded.

July 8 - Jackie Oates at Nettlebed.  Billed as 'Lace Tellings - A Radio Ballad', based on the lives of the lacemakers of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.  Special guests including John Spiers and Jack Rutter, and Megan Henwood too.

Wow! That would be nice, to see Spiers and Boden back doing stuff together! Though I love what John does with Peter Knight.

Trying to be young!

« Reply #119 on: June 16, 2019, 08:38:39 PM »

Can’t remember if I’ve posted this before so apologies but quite excited about this! On Friday 21 June it’s back to my misspent youth although now a slightly different occasion than when I first bought the tickets. It’s Buzzcocks, The Skids and Penetration at the Royal Albert Hall (I bet some 40 years ago they never thought they’d be playing the RAH!). With the sad passing of Pete Shelley, the event has been turned into a celebration of his life. The whole evening will be compered by Paul Morley with Penetration and Pauline Murray opening. The Skids with Richard Jobson are on next followed by Buzzcocks. This will include original members Steve Diggle, John Maher and Steve Garvey.  Not sure if Howard Devoto will be there though. There will also be guest vocalists including Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Thurston Moore,Tim Burgess and Peter Perrett. I did have a spare ticket I was going to advertise on this site but it’s been taken by a friend so sorry all  Wink
