Bought tickets for the Gigspanner Big Band & Raynor Winn 'Salt Path' concert in Ilfracombe in July. Inspired by the book of the same name about her walk round the SW Coast Path. Should be good!

There were a few hundred disappointed (nay, furious) Irish punters this morning who got in early and queued online to get their tickets for Bruce at the RDS. They got right through to the payment stage only to find that their bank (BOI) couldn't process the transaction. The gig of course sold out, and the bank has since apologised  |

Saturday, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band at the Moody Center, Austin, Texas! Mrs. J From A was listening to Jimmy Buffett for years before Margaritaville stormed our radios in 1977. My first Buffett concert came decades later, when I saw him at a soccer field in north Texas in 2007. I've seen him three more times since, and I'm always struck by the Grateful Dead-style atmosphere surrounding his shows. I was also struck by how much alcohol his followers can consume before the lights go down. Fun fact: Margaritaville was spawned at a local restaurant called Lung's Cocina del Sur, which opened not far from my parents' home in 1973. During an extended stay in town, Mr. Buffett had his first margarita there, and found his inspiration. The Lung family were local legends, opening one of Austin's first Chinese restaurants before branching out into Mexican food. Consider "Margaritaville" Austin's gift to the universe. |

If anyone's been looking forward to the upcoming John Cale July tour, then please note it's been postponed due to Covid. I've had notification from the Liverpool Phil that my gig is now happening on 11 Nov.

Number One Son & friend required transport to see Yes in Brum on Friday & in exchange for chauffeuring duties I'd be treated to a ticket . Having literally not heard anything by them since Tales of Topographic Oceans, I was somewhat intrigued. However, without Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Alan White or Rick Wakeman & following the discussion elsewhere, I'm now approaching the outing with more than a little trepitation. Hopefully, the Roger Dean visuals will be fun. |
