American roots music songstress Rhiannon Giddens is playing in the U.K. this month, with Francesco Turrisi opening:

MAY 11, 2023 - Union Chapel, London

MAY 12, 2023 - Saint Andrews & Blackfriars Hall at Norfolk & Norwich Festival

MAY 13, 2023 - Birmingham Town Hall

MAY 14, 2023 - Saffron Hall, Saffron Walden

Still eagerly awaiting her return to Texas so I can finally get to see her after admiring her from afar for years.

Just announced - Stevie Nicks, Moody Center, Austin, August 15!

Maybe on this one. I've seen Stevie four times, dating back to 1983, as a solo act, and five times with different configurations of Fleetwood Mac. How many Stevies is enough Stevies?

One possible tiebreaker is the venue. The Frank Erwin Center hosted most of my previous Stevie/FM shows, and it was not the best music venue, acoustically or logistically. The Moody Center is flawed but still superior.

Another consideration - I may want to take my 10-year old granddaughter. Stevie might be a safe introduction to live, large-scale music, even though I think she would insist on wearing earphones.

Going to see Jim Moray tomorrow evening, a 5 minute walk down the road, so that'll be nice.

Then it's Wood Festival weekend, a favourite time of the year  Smiley

Well Jell, by coincidence been listening to the Concert For The People on vinyl today.

Possibly my favourite band and their live album from the early 1970's (the one with the black sleeve) is certainly my favourite live album.

That's a very good live album-  BJH at their best, perhaps. Though there are a number of BJH live records.

Off to see Barclay James Harvest on Tuesday. John Lees has announced his retirement from extensive touring (though he hasn't ruled out the odd festival date) so it'll be lovely to catch them for what will probably be the last time.

My other gig within the next week or so is Slim Chance, on Sunday. Love  the music of Ronnie Lane, and the albums the band have made in relatively recent times have been strong too. Should be an excellent evening!

Stevie Nicks, August 15, 2023, Moody Center, Austin!

Why not? She's a national treasure.

Mrs. J. From A. and I saw Stevie together for the first time on our honeymoon, at Yasgur's Farm, at the "Day In The Garden" Festival near Bethel, New York, in 1998. She was touring in support of her retrospective CD box set (remember those?). It rained throughout her set, but the audience remained. Don Henley performed earlier that day, and I think everyone expected him to come out for "Leather and Lace." Did not happen. Fond memories of that whole weekend (which included performances by Pete Townshend, Lou Reed, Joni Mitchell, and the original line-up of Ten Years After). The event was livestreamed before that was a "thing," so bootleg videos and sound recordings abound.

Oye Santana tonight at Acapela just outside Cardiff

I’m hoping for something as good as the Santana tribute that played Cropedy in 2007 - they were fab

And tomorrow another tribute act La Villa Strangiato at The Globe in Cardiff,  courtesy of my nephew!

 Cheesy
