They were on top form last Friday in Nantwich.

Shirley Collins at Brighton Dome on Sunday afternoon; part of the Festival.

…and very good she was, too.  Shirley is currently in a wheelchair, while she awaits a hip-replacement.  Accompanied by the Lodestar Band and Rattle on the Stovepipe, as usual.  A fine and varied set, interspersed with spirited interludes from Brighton Morris (Shirley is their patron).

We stayed on for the evening performances: Stick in the Wheel (sounding rather different these days) and Fire in her Eyes (a very promising young folk-rock outfit).

Nancy Kerr and James Fagan are playing at Silverdale (where RSPB Leighton Moss is) on the 9th June.

And I've just seen that Karine Polwart is playing the Victoria Hall in Settle on the same night. But I've booked tickets for Nancy and James. And I think there's a gig on in Lancaster that night I'd like to go to as well. Gigs are being like buses this month.

I haven't seen it yet, but I bought the DVD.

I wish I hadn't seen 'Space Ritual Box Set' in the link though.
I'm trying hard not to look.
Really hard.
I'm going to want it if I look.
I haven't sat here thinking, 'I wish there was a Space Ritual box' all my life, but now.....
It's like Schrödinger, but with a Space Ritual in the box instead of a cat.

Enjoy the Albert Hall, David.

Just purchased on the spur of the moment:

Noel Gallagher's High-Flying Birds / Garbage / Metric, tonight at the Germania Amphitheater, Circuit of the Americas, in remote southeast hot as Hades Austin, Texas (101 degrees Fahrenheit [38.3C] out there right now with three hours of sunlight left).

I'm woefully unfamiliar with Oasis and Garbage (I know "Wonderwall" and "Special," and that's it), and had never heard of Canadian indie band Metric. Needless to say, I came of age before they did. But in my advancing years, I'd like to gain some exposure to ever-so-slightly newer music. After all, the recent departures of Jeff Beck and David Crosby, and the retirement of Gerry Conway, have reminded me that my generation's idols are gradually exiting stage left.

Taking the boy to see Muse on Sunday as a birthday present. Given the 24-hour coverage of Glastonbury at the moment, I'm reminded that I first saw Muse in Glastonbury's New Bands Tent in 1999 - 24 years ago! At that time they'd not yet released their first album; same as the other newbies I saw in New Bands that year, Coldplay.

Then it's Bruce on the 8th in Hyde Park, then Folk By The Oak a week or so after that. Summer's here Smiley

Cheers

Just booked to see Barrett's Privateers at the local RHS garden in just over a week. It'll be our anniversary as well, so a nice treat. Hope the good weather holds!

The music and entertainment calendar is filling up, with October being particularly loaded:

July 13 - Sparks, ACL Live
August 4 - Kenny Loggins, Moody Amphitheater (maybe)
August 15 - Stevie Nicks, Moody Center
August 23 - The Swell Season, Chateau St. Michele Winery, Seattle
September 17 - Sting, Moody Center
September 25 - Ann Wilson of Heart, Paramount Theater
October 10 - The Wallflowers, Paramount Theater
October 12 - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Bass Concert Hall
October 14 - Bonnie Raitt, ACL Live
October 18 - Peter Gabriel, Moody Center
October 26 - Austin City Limits Hall of Fame inducts John Prine and Trisha Yearwood, with special guests (I'm assuming Mr. Yearwood, a/k/a Garth Brooks, will be there, and hopefully Bonnie doing "Angel From Montgomery") ACL Live
December 8 - A. J. Croce (Croce Plays Croce), Paramount

Laura Cantrell tonight. Never seen her before so I'm looking forward to finally catching a show. Then, Bob Fox on Monday. Seen him many times but he's always good value.

Almost no notice on that but the Trimdon Grange Explosion are playing tonight in Stoke Newington.  I have no idea who/what Honey Radar are but I can't imagine they're sh1te if TGE are playing with them....
