Thanks for the kind words Chris, much appreciated. I have a lifelong relationship with Maiden having watched them in East End pubs (whilst underage ) in the very early days. I even used them as an example in my Spoken English 'O' Level ! Since this is their 50th Anniversary Tour concentrating on the earlier albums I couldn't say no. And Big Big Train were absolutely superb last night.

Not a gig per se, but tomorrow at 7:00 PM Joe Boyd is signing his new book at Waterloo Records.
I'm going to head down there with my Fairport hat bearing the autograph of pretty much everyone affiliated with the group over the years, barring those who were already long gone when I began my journey with FC. I'm sure I can find a blank spot for Joe.
So far I have: Richard T., Simon N., Ashley H., Judy D., Iain M., Swarb, D.M., Peggy, Jerry D., Ric S., Maart, Chris L., Gerry C., plus Christine Collister and a lovely fellow, George Galt, who played harp during MOTL in 2012.
I would gladly add folks like Linda T., John Wood, Zara Phillips, RT's current bandmates, Judith Owen and Chris While. The quest never ends, actually.

Not exactly upcoming, but just got a ticket to see Bruuuuce at Anfield next year. I never thought I'd see the day when I spent £169 for a concert ticket! First concert I saw was Led Zeppelin in 1971 and that was £1 and was thought to be a bit expensive at the time!

crazy when you think £1 in 1971 is less than £20 today.. something is not right. However, i recently paid out something similar to you to see Springsteen in Cardiff and I have to say it was worth every penny.

I'm sure it'll be worth it - I've never seen Bruce live and I know he puts on a great show. It's the £19 'fees' added on to the ticket price that really annoys me - it's me that spent the time queueing and choosing tickets etc - what do the ticket agencies actually do for their cut?

I am seeing Robin Williamson and his wife Bina in Stratford next week. I am surprised, as I thought he'd retired!

He never said he'd retired and they would have played dates in 2020 if Covid hadn't come along. But given the time since and his focus on his painting it was certainly assumed that was the case. He's not been well recently as well so a lovely surprise. Like the London shows, I have a ticket but it's odds against. We'll see.

Afro Celts at Band on the Wall tonight. Only seen them twice previously and that was at festivals : Fleadh (1998) and Cropredy (2018) so seeing them at such an intimate venue will be interesting. Enjoying their new CD 'OVA'.
Also booked for next few months : Merry Hell, Bellowhead, Ellie Gowers, Joshua Burnell, John Bramwell, Lightning Seeds.

He's cancelled the first couple of shows. Supposedly a 'bad cold', but there's quite a lot of form here, so a little concerned about the Liverpool show on Friday.

And I am one of them - however, I got general admission tickets in the presale this morning for £99 each (plus obligatory fees of course). I'm sure there will be a good supporting line up added which will make it worth the price to me, especially as I have never seen ELO.
Since my last missive I have also got tickets for Bearded Theory Festival next May - Iggy Pop, Manic Street Preachers, Sisters of Mercy, Yard Act and many others in the first wave of bands announced.
I'm also going to see KT Tunstall celebrate 20 years of Eye To The Telescope at Glasgow Barrowland on Friday 31st January - great album and a venue that has been on my bucket list forever.
Lastly, Public Service Broadcasting in Margate on 29th March - one of my favourite currently active bands and their new record is of the usual high standard.
