Lindisfarne on Saturday, in Maesteg. Yes, I know there's only one original member left, but that could apply to another band we all know who are still going strong! In fact I've seen them on both of their farewell tours, in 1975 and 2003. This version of the band are well worth watching - although they've recently lost long time bassist Ian Thomson and I've no idea who the new man is, so this will be another 'first' You ever seen Ray Laidlaw and Billy Mitchell's "Lindisfarne Story"? They're playing in Keswick and I was tempted...

One festival we attended in the last couple of years had three versions of Lindisfarne playing. The then-current-version of "Lindisfarne" with Alan Hull's son-in-law who he never met, the "Silver Blues" with Ray Jackson (they did do other tunes but soon descended into Lindisfarne numbers as they were best received) and the "Alan Hull Project" (or somesuch) with no-one that I found memorable.
There's only a certain number of versions of "Fog On The Tyne" I can take and it was a bit of overload really.

I don't know The Alan Hull Project, but I'm familiar with The Alan Hull Songbook, who comprised Dave Hull-Denholm and Ian Thomson. Also, it's not correct that Alan never met his son in law. He was his guitar tech and eventually joined Lindisfarne in 1994 (Alan's died in 1995.) In fact, he completed the production of Alan's last solo album 'Statues & Liberties' following his death. Obsessed, me?

Thanks for the corrections. It probably was the "Songbook".
As to Alan not meeting his son-in-law, that was told to me by a member of Lindisfarne, so they were obviously misinformed.

Just announced - Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks in June at the historic Paramount Theater!
Yes please. I enjoyed seeing Steve Howe’s Yes last summer but this is closer to the real thing.

No problem. I normally bow to your knowledge, Andy, so an occasional misstep is allowed

If I was arranging a festival of my weirder music it would look exceedingly like this one. Which is good because I bought a ticket before anybody (it's Sea Power's bash so we know they're playing) was announced. It really is the most glorious set up - and with an audience of about 1200, I think.

Oh you lucky thing...on both counts. I know the Trades well. Only seen Tunng once...a very long time ago. Very jealous!

Bill Murray and his Blood Brothers - tonight at the Paramount!
I have no idea what’s going on here. I’ve intentionally avoided reading setlists or reviews because I want to be surprised and hopefully delighted. I’ve loved Bill Murray since he debuted on Saturday Night Live in 1976, so I can’t imagine I will be disappointed. Unfortunately, Glenn Tilbrook is playing a solo show at the theater next door at the exact same time. I wish I could be in two places at once but they haven’t perfected the technology.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band/Rodney Crowell - tomorrow at ACL Live!
The NGDB are on their farewell tour. I believe there is one original member left. I confess “Mr. Bojangles” is the only song I recall from their heyday. I’m looking forward to some great music and healthy nostalgia.

Randy Bachman spilled the beans on a projected tour in 2026 with Burton Cummings under the "Guess Who" banner. Not coincidentally, this would mark the 60th anniversary of teenaged Burton joining the then-failing band and turning its fortunes around three years later with "These Eyes."
No confirmation yet from BC and no mention of other former members who might regroup. Regardless, I'm thrilled at the prospect.

Eddi Reader plays Lancaster Town Hall this Saturday. First time she's played here since 2018.
If you're in London this Friday or Saturday there are two tribute shows to Stuart Adamson taking place at the Pizza Express Live at Holborn featuring Big Country drummer Mark Brzezicki along with Simon Hough, Chris Layhe and Ken Nicol.

I've heard of less than half of these acts but i'm sure it will he good. I'm going to see Throwing Muses in May.
