Shown as restocking in Amazon on the 25th...£75.16 The good news is that the new stock will presumably not be faulty. Or am I being optimistic? Jules

I'd take that as a fairly clear sign not to buy stock that becomes available in a few days time. I'd also be a lot happier if there was a statement from Universal themselves.

So all the people that perfectly innocently purchase a faulty product in the interim are being asked for patience? We know about this thing...many people (most, I suspect) won't. Nah - not ok.

Well the better option until they figure out what they are going to do would be to recall it from sale. Then nobody can purchase it, innocently or otherwise.

Just wondering whether anyone has yet tried comparing the version of Shoot Out The Lights on the box with the one released by Rhino Handmade in 2010 to see if one sounds better than the other?

Hmm - I’ve received the box set in the post, but in the meantime I’ve Just got Spotify Premium as part of a new phone contract. Should I listen via Spotify and just read the book in the boxed set?

If you have a CD player, you could very well be just fine listening to the discs. If, however, you rip discs to listen that way, then yes, you'll likely be better off with Spotify. Jules

Jules In my case, the same discs that don't rip also don't play. In fact one disc that did rip but only with great difficulty does not play but the ripped file does. As far as I am aware the entire set is not available on Spotify, unless that has changed. I don't do Spotify.

Neither do I. The set is likewise not available in its entirety on YouTube. Jules

Jules The Spotify version doesn't include the live tracks from Theatre Royal on disc 5 and all of the Shoot Out The Lights disc aside from the two Gerry Rafferty version bonus tracks. The 2010 Rhino edition of Shoot Out... with live album is on Spotify though.

Well, I must have been fortunate - I only had two tracks that didn't play nicely after ripping them to iTunes, and they were fine when I had another go at them. Must say I am enjoying listening to the albums again.

Let me guess. Calvary Cross & Back Street Slide? That was my experience, though the latter did glitch very slightly on flayback in the last couple of seconds. Have you played the discs on a regular player? Calvary Cross won't behave at all for me. Haven't tried Back Street Slide.

How did you guess?! I haven't tried it in a regular CD player (I don't actually have one at the moment!) so can't say about that.

I would probably go with this, though I might swap places 3 & 4. I am much fonder of First Light than most people and increasingly so after listening to the new box.
