I think that they came from somewhere quite close, Leicester?, and were a last minute replacement . I heard at the time that Rod Clements had dug himself out of 6 ft of snow to get there! It probably has a lot to do with agents as well. |

Care of Bandcamp, listening to the new album from Envy of None (Alex Lifeson's new band). Quite pleasant electronic pop, and as was flagged up ahead of time, nothing like Rush. Nice way to pass some time, but I don't think I'll be investing.

Rab Noakes : Bridging the Gaps (Neon records 2CD, 2017).
Although I know of him, his music is totally new to me. I was gifted this 2CD set, along with one other RN disc. His voice isn't unlike Alan Hull's (Lindisfarne) and the songs are good, without being overwhelming.

Spot on Nick, they're a Leicester band. Were originally The Psychedelic Filberts, after Leicester City's old ground at Filbert Street, but maybe understandably EMI insisted on a name change after signing them. |

Megson's covers album Unknown Waters. They chose songwriters from the NE so there are songs originally done by the likes of Lindisfarne, Martin Stephenson, Jez Lowe and even a version of Chris Rea's Road to Hell which they describe as one of their favourite post-gig singalongs.  |

I first got into BOA when a friend gave me their album X-Rated, for my 21st as I remember, though there are no tracks from that album on the Best of. One of their drummers Tommy Aldridge went on to play with Ozzy and Whitesnake.
