I don’t know why I don’t already own anything by them, not even a single. It’s possible that it’s because around about the time they were charting, I was given a cassette recorder & I used to tape everything I wanted to listen to, so often didn’t bother buying the single. And I couldn’t afford albums until I started working in 1978.

One of the best bits about TAW!  Cheesy

Revisiting the 3CD set Lesley Step Lightly,  which comprises 3 Lesley Duncan albums.

All good, but Moon Bathing (1975) stands out.

Brilliant and the other compilation of the earlier stuff is even better. An exceptional singer and songwriter. Her appearance on TOP was a classic, when she tried and failed to keep Elton John and Rod Stewart in check.

It was the same with me, Bridge. Glad to have righted my wrong, albeit tardily.

Sparks - Past Tense - a 3 disc anthology of hits and key tracks from pop's answer to Gilbert and George. The recent material is particularly good. Genre-defying, intelligent, witty, inventive music, and the most fun I've had for £13 in living memory.

Spooky, I bought that last week, it is utterly fabulous

I wish I'd seen that.

Thinking of getting the other double but I already have EarthMother as a CD..

Sad she left us rather early.

Came across an interesting version of 'Matty Groves' on my copy of Joan Baez : Ballad Book, last night. Sorry I can't do the link but it's there on youtube-  live version.

Was this Amazon? I have had this happen a couple of times but I don't think there is anything sinister in it. The price of the product on the site hasn't change. It usually seems to happen when the package is damaged or lost en route. Why they don't just send a replacement I have no idea.

Johnny Cash-Strawberry Cake. A live album recorded at the London Palladium in 1975. Title track notwithstanding, I like this album a lot. The band, and in particular Bob Wooten on guitar were really strong. Wooten absolutely smoking on Big River and Rock Island Line. Also unlike other live albums from this period by Johnny, he sounded really good. Probably as a result of the pills he would stumble on words, but on these tracks he is sharp. Two other interesting things about this one- 1, Lonnie Donegan was in the audience and gets a shoutout. 2, its the only live album I know that gets interrupted by the theater manager calling a halt halfway through due to a suspicious package phone call.
