Kiki Dee 'Loving and Free'. I first bought this album back in 1973 and I played it to death. I regularly listen to it, just a lovely collection of songs delivered in Kiki's own laid back style.

Bought a copy at the concert I attended the other day. Polly brings a different dynamic to Will but it still works well so it's another fine release. |

Love it - a remarkably good quality recording from the time , so many early Soft Machine live recordings from around this era have been digitally rescued from the mud. |

So much energy in the performance . I was smiling as I remembered reading Robert Wyatt I think saying they used to play deliberately loud so they couldn't be booed! |

A rare, entirely free day. The weather forecast was lousy but at the moment there are clear blue skies and sunshine. A perfect opportunity then to begin my end year "review" of all the new albums that I have bought this year before they get crowded out with seasonal music next month. Starting with:

Thanks David - will check it out looks like a rich seam of entertainment!
I love the later Canterbury stuff , but my personal passion lies in the more psychedelic Robert Wyatt Soft Machine era and the various off-shoots from that, like Gong and Kevin Ayres . Not quite as keen following the Caravan turn-off from the original Wilde Flowers band but still fond of some stuff like Hatfield and the North.
