RT's You? Me? Us? after seeing that he's playing Woods of Darney on his current tour. It doesn't look like he's been anywhere up round these parts. Wouldn't mind seeing him play his hometown gig at Ally Pally this week. https://www.setlist.fm/search?query=richard+thompson

Where do you stand on Incantations? I absolutely love it. It's either my second or third favourite depending on what day it is. Jules

A friend introduced me to Incantations not long ago. It has some lovely moments, but it's awfully long in total.

I've never thought it was quite "there"...and I don't think I've listened to it in a decade or more...but will definitely try again and see what I think these days.

Played acoustic versions of some of the songs that will appear on the record he is currently making with the electric band; also a couple of things from ‘Bloody Noses’ and, of course, all the old favourites.

Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage Before The Sun. I've been meaning to get hold of something of theirs since seeing them on tour with Fairport this winter, and this doesn't disappoint. Just sorry I missed them when they played locally, on the very day we left for our most recent trip to Africa.
I picked that up along with their second album Awake when I went to see them recently. I already had the third album and Hannah's solo record which I picked up on the Fairport tour.
I have been listening to Awake in the car today. Sublime.

New (currently digital only) solo album from Nicky Wire. If you're even remotely interested in the Manics you'll enjoy this. Includes fairly brief San Ra-esque freak outs so watch out for them Otherwise, much as you'd expect...and that's not damning with faint praise. Rather lovely, I felt. https://nickywire.bandcamp.com/album/nicky-wire

Fleetwood Mac Tusk.
I've not played it since the three times, or there abouts, that I listened to it when it came out.
Apart from a couple of tracks, I thought it a big disappointment.
I picked up a CD copy recently and, apart from a couple of so-so tracks, I thought it was great.
I haven't moved on to the bonus disc yet, so it'll be in the player for a while.

Well, I gave it a spin over my tea. I enjoyed Part 1, although it's a bit frantic/screechy in places. Overall, I'd agree with Alan though - it's a good half an hour too long...and parts of it (Sadly I'm looking at you, Ms Prior) really should never have been saved for posterity.

Well, you don't have to play the whole thing in one sitting. And once it gets under your skin, you wouldn't lose a thing (well, maybe that vibraphone section in Part Four is a tad overlong). Anyway, it is what it is, and I love it. Jules

The three This Mortal Coil albums.
I bought a second copy of Filigree And Shadow as part of a 'buy two get one free' offer, to keep in the car when I couldn't find a third album I hadn't already got. I was surprised to receive a brand new Japanese gatefold digi-pak version complete with obi, inner sleeve and the works. Being a fan of 4AD artwork, I bought the other two albums in the same format. The artwork is beautiful.
The music is too, and sounds great. I've been wallowing in the floaty ambience for the last week or so.
Wonderful stuff.

I like Blood, which I was drawn to because of Heidi Berrys involvement. But there's a lot of variation within the album. I tried Filigree and Shadow and wasn't greatly moved.
