Shed Seven A Matter of Time and it's really excellent. Where did that come from?

I suspect Youth had a lot to do with it?  He's all over the new (and very good) Black Grape as well...

Angeline Morrison “The Sorrow Songs : Folk Songs of Black British Experience”

I bought this after hearing the track “Black John” on the freebie cd from the February edition of Mojo.
Haunting and, at times, harrowing.
Sorry, that should be Uncut, not Mojo

Aye, I definitely didn't spot her on Heavy Nuggets Vol.7 Wink Grin
That would have been somewhat incongruous!

The Story :  Tale Spin  ( Sunbeam CD, 2006).

Acid folk band comprising ex forest member Martin   Welham  and his son Tom. They've made 3 albums and I think this is the best.

Having just finished reading the Nick Drake biography by David Morton Jack (Nick Drake - The Life) I've been listening to his three albums. 'Bryter Later' was the first one that I owned, many years ago, and I'd still pick that as my favourite - especially 'Northern Sky'. But 'Five Leaves Left' and 'Pink Moon' have their moments, too.

Sometimes I feel the  positive thing about Nick Drake is the fact he left us 3 perfect albums. I've been listening to them for a long time  now and I find it difficult to pick one as the best.  Each one is beautiful in its own way.

Anne Briggs  :  Sing a Song for You  (Boweavil LP,   2007).

I bought the CD of this when it came out  and confess I was slightly underwhelmed.  This vinyl edition sounds a good deal better.  It took a long time to surface in the first place, and it isn't perfect-  the band sounds a bit bored sonetimes- but I do like it now.

Those of a VdGG persuasion might be interested in this little tune by Hugh Banton, David Jackson and Guy Evans..

Exploring some of Janis Ian's back catalogue (which I have meaning to do since about 1979!), starting with her classic Between The Lines album.

Steve Knightley - All At Sea. Nice cover of The Boys of Summer.

Looking forward to seeing SoH next month on their farewell tour.

OXN : Cyrm   ( Claddagh CD, 2023).

Very much outside my  usual tastes,  but a compelling listen.

It's brilliant, isn't it?  Have you come to it via Lankum or of its own accord?

The Lost Words: Spell Songs, and their recent live recording: Gifts Of Light.

I got the first a couple of years ago, to accompany the wonderful book by Jackie Morris and Robert Macfarlane, but it has been sadly neglected of late.  Making up for that now, having just got the live album via yesterday's Bandcamp Friday.

Did we know about this Fairport Eyes to See digital (only, I think) release?

From '73.  It's enjoyable (Sloth, especially) but fairly bootleggy...

Not via Lankum- in fact I only found out about the Lankum connection  this morning, doing a Google search.

Never heard of that myself. There was a Dec 1973 concert from Fairfield Halls on the Come All Ye boxset, but this seems to be something different, judging by the setlist, which is quite different.
