Maria McKee Live At the BBC. A pair of stonkin' recordings from two concerts in 1991 and 1993 that really make you feel like you were right there, getting hot and sweaty. swaying along and singing along hoarsely.

Steve Knightley's new album The Winter Yards.

I didn't manage to catch him on his current tour as his date in Kendal clashed with a gig in Morecambe but this album is well worth a listen. All the usual suspects playing and singing on it including Phil Beer, Philip Henry, Track Dogs, Johnny Kalsi and Matt Clifford.

I see he's playing in Bury later this month on the 21st.

Bluenose B - Minstrel of the Wasteland. For fans of Merry Hell it features John, Virginia and Swarb very prominently.

Mick  Softley :  Any Mother Doesn't Grumble  (the song that  i sing)   (Morello CD, 2016).

Very fine album by criminally underrated  artist. And it features a number of Fairport people.

Cor, that name takes me back. My school friend Tim used to play me some of his big brother's records, and Mick Softley was one such artist. It may well have been this very album. I wonder if I'd recognise it after all these years.

Any Mother    is a very good Mick Softley album, and this reissue is still available.  Ive seen cheap copies around.

Apostrophe alert: Donsya A'n Loryow.  'Dance of the Moons' in Cornish.  Bloody wonderful.

ps seen the prices it went for before the repress?! https://www.discogs.com/release/24390602-Daisy-Rickman-Donsya-An-Loryow?srsltid=AfmBOooDfGcBe8JgkLtqBPwSCEaLgO2vuJ5DIWHi53dWOQLTweI-juU4

Barry Dransfield :  Barry Dransfield   (Glass Modern LP , dark blue vinyl,  Record Store Day 2020).

The near perfect  folk album, if there is such a thing.

Fairport Convention :  Angel Delight  (Island / Universal LP,  2024).

This is a better  reissue than i  expected.  Clean pressing,  the masteriing okay, though I've no original to compare - it's possible the album was never a sonic miracle. Nice gatefold, though not textured cardboard - perhaps a Fairport scholar will tell me if the original release was.

As the years go by i'm  more tolerant of post classic/Sandy era albums, developing a strong liking for some. Including as it does say 3 classic songs- 'Bridge etc.',  Bonny Black Hare'  and the  title track, this one is hard to dislike.

I sometimes weaken and talk about 'the first six' these days.  I really like Angel Delight.

My top 3 from that LP would be The Journeyman's Grace, Banks of the Sweet Primroses, and Lord Marlborough. Horses for courses.

I like how the LP cover had a butterscotch hue. Always the best flavour of Angel Delight.  Grin

Yes it's a nice colour . This edition manages that framed photo effect too.
