This one had completely passed me by - Dave Pegg & Friends - Birthday Party until somebody mentioned it as a 25p chazzer shop find on FB the other week.  Anyway mine cost me a bit more than that but was still good value.

It's his 50th Birthday bash from Dudley Town Hall, and it features everybody, the current Fairport (must be DMs last gig?), Jerry, Roger Hill, Swarb, Ian Campbell, Maart etc etc

I was surprised how strong it is...

I was there for that. I haven't played it in a while, but I guess that one bit of the night not included, because it wouldn't make for good CD material, was a live phone call from a certain Mr Anderson to Peggy's mobile. 'It's the boss!' Another bit was Peggy being presented with a bass guitar constructed from the old bar from the Half Moon at Putney. Peggy's comment after using it for the first time was 'It's f%*£&n' loud isn't it ?'

Dorie Jackson Stupid Says Run.  As mentioned elsewhere, this arrived yesterday, and I have just given it it's first couple of listens, and it is a definite keeper.  Highly recommended.  Intelligent, well-written songs, beautifully performed.

Tunng's new one , Love You All Over Again. Took me a while to appreciate the singles from this but I'm enjoying them, and now the album. The sound harks back to their first two albums - DIY, lo-fi folktronica.

Another vote of support for this from me.

Mainly due to the recent shows in memory of guitarist and songwriter Tony Clarkin appearing on my FB timeline, I've been listening to quite a lot of, er, Magnum.  About as unfashionable a band as it is possible to have but they had some absolutely corking songs.  I only saw them once...at the Marquee in '84...and have barely listened to them for 4 decades.  You'll find them halfway down my 'guilty pleasures' list....

Magnum are also one of those bands for me.  I only really know a limited amount of their output - basically from Chase The Dragon to On A Storytellers Night, which I enjoy, but I did recently splash out also on the last album.

Know anything about this lot?  Entirely new to me, but some mates went to see the latest lineup at Cafe OTO last week and were raving.
