Room to Roam by The Waterboys, our joint Valentine’s prezzy was the vinyl remastered at 45rpm. I am sure one of you gurus will explain why it has been remastered at 45 instead of 33rpm.
Anyway, it sounds amazing and so good to hear those beautiful songs, which mean a lot to the pair of us.
I have no idea why they did that, but in any form it's one of my absolute favourite records. Jules

In lay terms, it can give the music more attack, enhanced detail. I'n not a fan of it particularly, but i have one or 2. Basically, the grooves are wider so the dynamic range is wider.

Thanks for the explanation, yes it is a double record. I'm not enough of a buff to tell the difference, but it sounds fine. Just have to get up and down more often.

Tracey Chapman's eponymous 1988 album. Even after all these years I find this an affecting and enjoyable album.
Takes me back to my college days. A wonderful album, from a great time! Thirded!

Takes me back to my college days. A wonderful album, from a great time! Thirded! I loved that album at the time and sort of still do but I have a problem with the naivety of some of the lyrics now. "Poor people gonna rise up and take their share. Cause finally the tables are starting to turn." Well, demonstrably, no they are not in either case. Sadly.

It is a holiday here today so I'm listening to 3 new vinyl records purchased the other day in my new favorite record store, located in Hoboken New Jersey. I bough a classic Buck Owens & The Buckaroos album-I Don't Care. it was actually sealed and seems new, and comes with a nifty little certificate of authenticity card proclaiming it to be from Buck's personal vault in Bakersfield. Must look up what is behind that.
Next up are two from Fairport-In Real Time, and Angel Delight. Both have long been in the collection on CD, and the cassette version of In Real Time was my first Fairport record. The copy of Angel Delight is interesting in that it was released by A&M Records. Inside the gatefold is a garish yellow color, with a photo of the boys among a maze of statues, and an essay 'By Way Of Explanation' by Jim Bickhart..a fairly routine synopsis of Fairport up to that point and some comments about various tracks on the album. In any case, two more for the memorabilia Fairport collection!

Traffic : Shoot out at the Fantasy Factory (Island LP, reissued 2019).
Aside from what could be poor production here and there this is a very good record. Later Traffic: stretched out and jazzy/ soulful rather than psych pop.

Pipedream is such a great listen. Different to Lindisfarne, bit more of an edge and more varied in ambition, really love that album.

Agree about Pipedream. Always one of my favourite albums by one of the best songwriters we ever had.
Whilst on the Geordie theme, People Watching the new Sam Fender. After Seventeen Going Under, my hopes were high and they are more than justified. A brilliant album and likely to be one of the best I hear all year. The last track, Remember My Name, is heartbreaking and reminded me of Martyn Joseph’s ShadowBoxing.

Flash : Flash (Friday Music reissue LP).
I only like early Yes, and this is a nice addition to those few great albums of the 70s. Fast paced uplifting prog fronted by Pete Banks. I read yesterday the vocalist has passed just recently.

I've been listening to quite a bit of early Dylan after picking up a 2nd hand copy of The Bootleg Series volumes 1-3. Must admit I'm seeing his Bobness anew after watching A Complete Unknown at the cinema. But today I've listened to Plumhall's Thundercloud album which they made available on their Bandcamp page last year. And Luke Jackson's Journals is currently on the cd player.
