Dick Gaughan's A Different Kind of Love Song.

The track 'Think Again' has the lyrics "Do you think that the Russians want war?" Sadly under Putin the answer is yes but thankfully not with nuclear bombs.

The Kickstarter has nearly hit its target. I've pledged some cash but will pass on the boxed set.

Just the Russians, you think - have you heard the Germans, the French and the Brits recently?  It takes two (or more) sides for a conflict....  "Neither Washington nor Moscow but...."

I was just meaning in relation to this particular song. In 'Think Again' he sings about the Russians and the millions killed in the Nazi invasion. But I take your point about other countries being involved in current conflicts.

We may try and keep politics out of this message board but it's difficult to avoid it when listening to Gaughan's music.

I've never heard Dick Gaughan's original version of Think Again but I have it on the self-titled 1989 album by the American trio, Show Of Hands. Excellent song. Here's their cover, if you don't know it:

Jesse Ed Davis - Ululu

I've been aware of him for a long time but never got round to checking out of any of his solo albums. This one includes a cover of the George Harrison song 'Sue Me Sue You Blues' which he recorded before GH did.

I didn't know that his first big break came when he joined Taj Mahal's band playing on Taj's first few albums. He played on an incredible number of records before drugs took him at the age of 43. His discography is worth a look - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Ed_Davis

Robin Williamson  :  Songs of Love and Parting/ Selected  Writings  (BGO  CD,   2006).

Gosh my records are getting old. SOLAP  released  in 1981. I still have 2 copies of the LP.   This CD pairs it with the cassette- only Selected Writings, which is a  very good release.

Hmm, interesting. Not sure about the Norfolk accent, though, unless it's Norfolk VA...
