Recent years seem to have brought a few Sandy "Tribute" acts but which is the best:
Julie July Band Sandy Denny Project Linde Nijland
not exactly a tribute but Thea Gilmore's co-written with Sandy album
any others?

Let's not pick "the best", let's just enjoy the diverse interpretations of Sandy's songs.

Indeed - not the best choice of words but I would welcome comments all the same. DW

There was also the Lady tour. I saw it at the Abrbican, a wonderful evening. Some of the recordings from the tour have turned up on the Electric Muse Revisited and really make you wish for a full concert album.

The Sandy Deny Project were absolutely brilliant at The Traddarr gig at the Brasenose.

I haven’t seen the others, but I LOVE The Sandy Denny Project, though it could be that I am a bit biased 😊

Having not seen any of the tribute acts, I can only comment on the Thea Gilmore album, which I was very impressed with.

I haven't seen the Sandy Denny Project, but would like to. I wasn't really impressed by the Julie July Band when I saw them at Field 8 a few years ago. Linde Nijland's album is good (I enjoy the slight Dutchisms in her pronunciation too), and Thea Gilmore's album is great.

I must check those out. I'd be amazed if there weren't some audience recordings of the shows - in fact I must look to check I haven't got one - but I was unaware any of the material had been officially released. I went to the Liverpool Phil show. I mostly loved it, but the bits I loved best were the more leftfield interpretations and combos

Unless I'm going completely daft ( ?), years ago, she had a Fotheringay tribute band at Crops with some original members.

I seem to remember along with her solo work a really good album Annual - Ragged Heroes which had some great tracks. Hers were definitely some of my favourite interpritations of Sandy songs along with Linde Nijland and of course there have been some fine performances by Carla Fuchs

Don't forget The Nerve that played at Cropredy in 1995 (I think) and a great warm up set at The Mill Theatre.

I think the first Sandy tribute concert was at at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 2008. It was organised by Andy Batt who has done sterling work on the Sandy big box and the recent Richard and Linda and Fairport box sets and was a forerunner to the 2012 The Lady tour. Swarb, Jerry D, Kami Thompson, PP Arnold, Jim Moray, Lisa Knapp, Marc Almond and various members of Bellowhead amongst others but a special mention to my friend Mary Epworth who did a brilliant job on Come All Ye and Solo.

Do recordings of that show exist, Col? Not sure why I didn't get to that...especially as I was in Oxon at the time.

We are probably at the stage where more people have seen Sandy tributes than ever actually saw her perform eh?
