The list is out.
Another chance to buy Anne Briggs self titled, as if we need it. Though you get a 7" single with it.
The Roches self titled and the Kristin Hersh debut anniversary interest me. A few others are maybes.

The eponymous Roches album, if it's their first, is really good and features, amongst others, Robert Fripp.

Yes it's a good one I don't think there's a bad Roches album. This reissue is a red vinyl LP.

I became a fan of that album just this year thanks to a friend on Twitter. Love it. Jules

I'm starting to move away from vinyl , because of the way it's being marketed these days We are being over encouraged to collect , by the pressing of short runs in different coloured vinyl Heaven forbid we remove the shrink wrap and play the flipping thing , removes all the value , or half at least Even RT's new album came out in 500x blue vinyl copies before the yellow "initialled" pressing (if the hardback biog was anything to go by)

I drew a line under new vinyl about 3 years ago now. I don't miss it at all. I will still very occasionally buy a second hand album that isn't available in a better format (which for me includes on cassette or 8-track)

Jules My last new vinyl purchase was "Endless Wire" by The Who in 2006, and it is still in the shrink wrap. I still recall the horror of plugging in my brand-new silver CD of "Shades of Deep Purple" circa 1988, and hearing the needle drop.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's been a new vinyl press of it....mastered from that same needle drop CD. I mean, noone will notice, will they?

There's a history of the various pressings on the wiki page for the record. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_Deep_PurpleIf you're going to con people, you might at least make an effort to edit the evidence out. Even I had the gumption to drop the needle before starting the tape machine when I copied my records to cassette.

Jules I still like my vinyl.. But ive learned though experience to do my homework before purchase. If the press release/ hype sticker doesn't say it's done from the original masters, and who by, then it almost certainly isn't. Simply 'remastered' can mean anything. Also, the words 'audiophile vinyl' mean nothing nowadays. RSD this year gave me an expanded Kristin Hersh debut. Also BJH : And Other Short Stories, and the Anne Briggs self titled, both taken from original tapes. The Roches album we know nothing about so ive left it alone.
