You don't muck about with any of Fanny's Recipes y'know.

Even though she's been gone quite a while now

In the latest Swarb update Jill mentioned Johnny and Fanny Craddock. I well remember them too. They must've been the first tv 'Celebrity Chefs.'
Anyway it reminded me of a story I heard which may be true, possibly apocryphal. So I sent it to Swarb and then thought perhaps I could share it with you.

You must remember that this was 'live' telly in those days...................

Fanny had been showing viewers how to make doughnuts and had brought out the finished articles on a baking tray and presented them to camera with her usual flourish.
Cut to Johnny who says something like:
"Don't they  look wonderful. And for all of you at home, I hope your doughnuts turn out just like Fanny's!"

Apparently you could hear the studio staff's laughter as the final credits rolled. Even the camera was shaking with laughter!!

Not sure Paul, I've not heard from the Swarbs since before Christmas but should do soon. There should also be a website update along anytime now I'd have thought.

Absolutely Tasha! It must be so depressing/irritating to be stuck in hospital again - even though it's "par for the course'.

You must get a bit despondent...and if you haven't gigged for a while maybe even feel a bit forgotten.....

Don't let this happen people!

Your Swarbrick Needs YOU (as Lord Kitchener would almost certainly say if he was alive...and a folk fan...and allowed out wearing such a ridiculous moustache)!

So take a a few minutes out and send a message to the old fella. You don't have to have a degree in "Fairportism'...I'm sure he'd be just as keen to hear from those new to the Swarbricking world.

If e-mails are medicine then get dispensing!

Go on...let him know how much means to us Cool

Cheers, Carey

Jill Swarbrick sends this message to all at Talkawhile.

"As many of you who have seen the most recent bulletin know, Dave is still in hospital awaiting a possible operation to resolve problems created by previous tracheotomies. He has asked me to thank everyone at Talkawhile who has sent a message or contributed to the sterling efforts by Ces on behalf of Swarbaid. (A special thanks to Nuthouse - enjoy the evening!) We hope that you'll all raise a glass to Dave's recovery and keep in touch via the website. A HUGE thank you from me as well - you have no idea how everyone's good wishes have sustained us. Lots of love, Jill x"

I just sent another message to Dave and Jill, I'm afraid my messages must be a bit dull for them. I can never come up with anything that I've done that might be amusing to Dave and Jill.
Oh well, I tried. The important thing, I guess is that they can see how many people are really rooting for them.

I tend to send them bad jokes. A little anecdote or two about your love of music probably would go down well.  Even some recommendations!

Cheers Andy, I'll remember that for the next message, I know I can be amusing....but it would require a full length mirror and a camera for someone else to see the joke Sleepy Now there's a thought...that would exercise the Swarbrick laughter muscle and no mistake Grin
