At Cambridge last night, Simon seemed to suggest it wouldn't be too long before he was playing again.  Undecided

It sounds as if that's a bit optimistic, given the last few months, but wouldn't it be great if he can at last have a decent quality of life with Jill etc and think about performing when he is well

Let's all be optimistic and hope the old bugger is at least on stage at Croppers for a cheer, even if he can't play at the point.

Good news indeed..

Just a thought.. with regards to
Quote
I've an album part way through with Martin Carthy. We started it in September, but then I was called for my transplant and haven't done or heard much of it since.
... if JK Rowling can have advance copied of the new harry Potter book, why not ordering advance copies of the forthcoming Swarb/Carthy collaboration ? I would be more that happy to pay for an advance copy for whenever it comes out.. you know it would be worth waiting for... also might help Dave & Jill.

Perhaps someone closer to DS can consider and advise ?

I'm not close to Swarb, but I'd advise against it. For one thing he may already have had an advance from the record company! ...and presumably it'd be the record company selling a non-existent disc, which would be just a tad dodgy.

The main differnce here is that Rowling has already wriiten her book and the publishers already have it. Swarb may be better than he was, but there are no guarantees and the album may get finished, or not.

I think we'll just have to be patient.

I don't think we should put him under pressure - let him concentrate on mending.
wouldn't hurt to buy a few existing albums as presents  Wink

There will be many postings about last night and Dave Swarbrick's appearance at the Birmingham gig. What a night  Grin

Anyway... SoN and I were privileged to be able to meet Dave and Jill and what I would most like to pass onto you all is how much it has meant to them both to receive the messages of support from all fans and well-wishers. We all know of the ups & downs that Dave has been through, and obviously, Jill is on that road too so it has been tough for them both but the flow of good will and support  has helped and should not be underestimated.

I hope this does not sound pompous or preachy as it surely is not meant that way.... I just wanted to make sue that Jill's thanks to everyone are properly passed on... and I would add........ don't stop now  Cheesy.

Hi Nuthouse

not a bit pompous or preachy.............................we all value him - and Jill - so it's good to know we can help a bit.

And wasn't it just fantastic to see him??

Cheers Nuthouse

It was fabulous to see Swarb and Jill.  I felt priveleged to be there Afro !

I am sure the flow of support from this board, and others worldwide, will continue for as long as it takes.
